1 in 5 children are desperately struggling in deprived communities. Nearly 623,500 children aged 6-11 in Ghana are not enrolled in a primary school, whilst 1 out of 4 children from 4-5 years of age are not enrolled in pre-school simply because they cannot access school equipment. Girls from northern Ghana average only four years of education, three years less than the national average! This is simply unfair. Child labor is also a pervasive problem in developing countries. Internal Labour Organization estimates a shocking number of working children of about 250 million in developing countries, of whom at least 120 million are working full time instead of being in full time education. At the Africa Community Diversification and Development project (ACDAD), we believe that all children have the right to gain learning materials which will enhance their education regardless of their background, challenges or needs. In partnership with schools, orphanages and single parents in deprived communities, we want to transform young lives by breaking down the barriers to learning for vulnerable children. We support orphanage homes with foods, learning materials and other essentials in life to put smiles on their faces. Through this, stigmatization and isolation of deprived children will reduce in these communities, and importantly, making these children they feel loved. Our goal is to give educational aid to 600 children by this time 2018 through providing them with materials such as books, pens, school bags, shoes, school clothes and many more. We care about the wellbeing of children from the very start. Donations we receive shall also go towards provision of wipes and diapers to pregnant women in deprived communities. We target to provide these young mothers with wipes, soaps and toiletries for their babies, give education on health such as breastfeeding and personal hygiene to reduce the spread of diseases. All this aims to reduce unnecessary complications during and after childbirth, reducing infant mortality rates and protecting both the mother and child. While our main focus is provision of educational materials to children, we recognize that there are several other factors that hinder many children from receiving proper education. Because of this, we will partner with the Kayayo Project in Ghana that support street girls to receive an education. There are lot of children on the streets of Ghana selling and working hard to make ends meet instead of being in school. This puts them in very vulnerable and hazardous environments, especially as some are forced to sell on the roads in busy traffic risking accidents with cars. They are simply unsecured here. Many of the girls are sexually abused, leading to teenage pregnancy and all the difficulties that come with it, and the males are forced into gangs of armed robbery. We believe through the support of this project, shelter, education and vocational skills provided to these children can brighten their future to lead a safer, more enjoyable and fulfilled life. At ACDAD, we have been able to support serval children, providing them with materials and recourses they need to learn—giving them brighter prospects in their lives. But we need your support. With your generous donations, we will be able to achieve all these goals set in place. We want to reach out to many more unprivileged children within Ghana, to provide them with a better advantage in life, and see them reach for a better brighter future. Thank you, Kind regards, Sandra and Samuel.
